At Field End, we start off each new academic year with a week dedicated to improving children's health and fitness.
During health week this year, all children took part in a health and nutrition session held on the LifeBus. This educates children on how their body works and the importance of a balanced diet and exercise. We also ran sessions for parents to attend so they are able to ask questions and learn more about how to keep their children and themselves fit and healthy. This year Nursery, Reception, Year 1&2 all danced away in a Zumba class and learnt about how to keep a healthy body and stay fit during the Kidzfit sessions.
Alongside these workshops, all classes focused on educating children on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. From fruit tasting to tropical fruit salads, making healthy soup and science lessons to team building games which children loved taking part in.

Last year we focused on oral hygiene and year 2 were visited by a local dentist. The children learnt about how to look after teeth which we hoped they will put to good use at home. Each year group has taken part in a physical workshop. Nursery and Reception grooved in their Zumba sessions, Year 1 stretched and relaxed in their Yoga class and Year 2 boogied away in African dance workshops. Each year group has also taken part in healthy cookery sessions with children making smoothies, fruit salads and other healthy treats.
During play and lunchtimes, an even wider range of resources than usual were available to children to use independently and with our dedicated lunch time supervisors and Mrs Payen our Play Leader.
