Field End Infant School

Concentration Co-operation Daring Having fun Imagination

Welcome from the Wellbeing Lead

At Field End Infants, we recognise that, in order for a child to be ready and able to learn, they must feel physically and psychologically safe and that their emotional needs must be met. As Wellbeing Lead, I have responsibility for supporting our staff in ensuring that our children are safe and happy at school.

As Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead, I work closely with the Head Teacher in her role as Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure that all safeguarding and child protection policies are in place and adhered to. This involves working with all school stakeholders, including staff, governors, parents, volunteers and children to ensure that everyone understands what we must do in order to keep our children safe.

My role also extends to ensuring that the school complies with its statutory obligations to follow the Prevent Strategy, identifying and safeguarding children who may be vulnerable to radicalisation by extremist groups.

I work closely with our Attendance Officer to identify children for whom attendance is becoming an issue and explore how to remove barriers to attendance by working with our families.

As a school, we also recognise the importance of looking after the wellbeing of our staff. Adult mental health is high on our agenda and our resident Play Therapist provides regular seminars for staff as well as supporting children in school who have suffered trauma or adverse childhood experiences.

Should you wish to find out more about aspects of wellbeing I may be able to support you with, please contact the school via email (office@fieldendinfants.co.uk) or phone (02088666163). I would be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
