Pupil Premium & COVID Recovery Strategy

Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

Schools in England will also be awarded a recovery premium, which provides additional funding for state-funded schools in the 2021 to 2022 academic year. Building on the pupil premium, this funding will help schools to deliver evidence-based approaches for supporting disadvantaged pupils.

Our school vision, ‘Developing aspirational lifelong learners who will help to shape the future,’ is intended to encompass all pupils, irrespective of their starting points in life or the challenges they face. We expect that all children at Field End will make good progress and achieve high attainment across all subject areas. The focus of our pupil premium strategy is to support disadvantaged pupils to achieve that goal, including progress for those who are already high attainers.

We will consider the challenges faced by vulnerable pupils, such as those who have a social worker or who have experienced adverse early childhood experiences and trauma. The activity we have outlined in this statement is also intended to support their needs, regardless of whether they are disadvantaged or not.
