Dodgeball is a fantastic team game suitable for all ages, ability levels and genders. It supports the development of physical literacy in a child by encouraging the development of basic running, jumping, throwing and catching skills. Because dodgeball is played with more than one ball it is a very fast, active game. This gives children more opportunities to develop basic object control and co-ordination skills through throwing and catching. During sessions your child will learn to:
Master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities.
Participate in team games, developing simple tactics for attacking and defending (Children can use simple tactics such as throwing low and from the centre of the court to attack and getting back quickly, catching/dodging to defend themselves)
Dodgeball is safe, fun and boosts children’s communication skills and self-esteem due to the increased chances for success, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
